Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a senior-level Chemist to support the Federal Site Investigation & Remediation proactive at a top 10 U.S. engineering firm. This role will focus heavily on laboratory coordination, data validation, and QA/QC review for EPA and Department of Defense (DoD) projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong laboratory background combined with consulting experience, and is comfortable reviewing analytical deliverables, work plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state standards. This individual will initially support a senior leader and is expected to grow into a more autonomous, senior consulting role over time. Key responsibilities include -
1. Laboratory Coordination & Data Validation:
• Coordinate with analytical laboratories on environmental investigation and remediation projects
• Review and validate laboratory data packages and analytical deliverables (generally 2A and 3 VEM)
• Perform data validation for EPA and DoD software systems (preferred)
• Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues and recommend corrective actions
• Support regulatory driven validation efforts for site investigation and remediation projects
2. QA/QC & Work Plan Review
• Review and support development of Work Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), and related documentation
• Provide QA/QC guidance and recommendations aligned with EPA and DoD regulatory expectations
• Ensure analytical methods, reporting, and documentation meet federal compliance standards
• Serve as a subject matter expert providing practical regulatory and technical guidance consistent with regulatory standards.
3. Cross Functional Technical Support
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including:
o Site investigation and remediation teams
o Hydrologists, geologists, and project managers
o Fire & life safety, building and engineering services, transportation, and water/wastewater teams
• Support projects involving PFAS, with increased interaction on water and wastewater related efforts
• Provide technical review and guidance across a large, multi disciplinary federal project environment

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a related scientific field
• 8–15 years of relevant experience in environmental chemistry, laboratory analysis, or environmental consulting
• Strong background in laboratory operations, analytical chemistry, and data validation
• Experience reviewing laboratory analytical deliverables and validation reports
• Familiarity with EPA regulatory frameworks and federal environmental compliance requirements
• Experience working on site investigation and remediation projects
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience supporting EPA, USACE, or Department of Defense (DoD) clients
• Knowledge of DoD regulations, including CERCLA, Superfund, and related federal programs
• Experience with EPA or DoD data management / software systems
• PFAS project experience, particularly related to water or wastewater
• Prior consulting experience reviewing third party lab work (not strictly bench chemistry)
