Job Description
The Advanced Photonics Program Manager will work directly with the CTO & GM of Photonics to manage the development of manufacturable, high-power Photonic Crystal Surface-Emitting Laser (PCSEL) technology. You will directly support execution of the product development roadmap, communicate progress to senior leadership (and C-suite), manage complex interdependencies, and move fast to execute strategic partnerships, develop supply chains, and implement Capex projects, including the stand up of new PCSEL fabrication facilities. The role demands someone who can speak the language of PCSEL device physics, epitaxy, fabrication, test, reliability, and AI-driven co-design while running a disciplined program management cadence that earns the confidence of customers, leadership, and the technical team alike.

Required Skills & Experience
• BS in Laser Engineering, Optics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field (MS or PhD preferred)
• 8+ years of program management experience delivering complex semiconductor or semiconductor laser devices
• Experience managing semiconductor or semiconductor laser production operations (R&D or commercial).
• Working knowledge of laser systems, optics, etc.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior scientists and engineers to execute new product introduction (NPI) programs and design trade studies, framing decisions, facilitating structured analysis, and driving to documented outcomes without alienating the technical team.
• Proficiency with program management tools and frameworks: integrated master schedules, earned value management, risk registers, and work breakdown structures.
• Experience with dual-use (defense and commercial) technologies and associated compliance (including export controls / ITAR).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with photonic crystal or advanced cavity semiconductor laser architectures.
• Prior hands-on engineering or science role before transitioning into program management, providing firsthand understanding of hardware development challenges.
• Knowledge of test automation and reliability programs for characterizing optoelectronic devices.
• Background in rapid prototyping environments where speed and technical rigor must coexist.
• PMP certification or equivalent formal program management training.
