Cloud Database Engineer

We are looking for a Cloud Database Engineer who is a true Google Cloud Platform (GCP) expert and can architect, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade database solutions using AlloyDB, Cloud Spanner, and Cloud SQL. This role is critical for building highly available, scalable, and secure data platforms that power mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities:
-Design & Architecture
-Architect robust, scalable database solutions leveraging AlloyDB, Spanner, and Cloud SQL.
-Define schemas, partitioning strategies, and performance optimization plans for large-scale workloads.
-Implementation & Migration
-Lead migrations from on-prem or other cloud databases to GCP using Database Migration Service (DMS) and custom strategies.
-Implement HA/DR strategies including cross-region replication and failover.
-Performance Optimization
-Tune queries, indexes, and configurations for AlloyDB and Spanner to achieve optimal performance.
-Monitor and troubleshoot latency, throughput, and cost efficiency.
-Security & Compliance
-Implement IAM roles, CMEK encryption, private networking, and compliance controls.
-Automation & DevOps
-Build Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines.
-Automate backups, patching, and scaling workflows.
-Collaboration
-Partner with application teams to ensure seamless integration and performance alignment.
-Provide technical leadership and mentorship on GCP database best practices.

-Expert-level knowledge of GCP database services:
-AlloyDB for PostgreSQL – cluster design, read pools, performance tuning.
-Cloud Spanner – multi-region deployments, schema design, query optimization.
-Cloud SQL – HA architecture, replication, failover strategies.
-Strong SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals; familiarity with MySQL and SQL Server.
-Hands-on experience with Database Migration Service (DMS) and large-scale migrations.
-Proficiency in Terraform, scripting (Python/Bash), and CI/CD pipelines.
-Deep understanding of IAM, networking, encryption, and compliance in GCP.
-Google Cloud Professional Cloud Database Engineer or Cloud Architect certification preferred.
