Insight Global is partnering with a large local utility as they grow their Electric Engineering organization to support the surge in electricity demand, driven by AI-focused data centers, rapid electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and massive grid modernization efforts.
We are looking for a Transmission Project Engineer to be a part of the Transmission Engineering department. This department is responsible for ensuring all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects.
Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
Resolves problems of moderate scope. Assignments typically require standard solutions. Under general direction, independently plans work to meet assigned objectives; progress is reviewed periodically for technical accuracy and adequacy in process and upon completion.
May perform functions of Associate level Engineer and in addition:
Provides technical expertise and performs engineering analyses, studies, and develops
conceptual designs.
Presents findings to internal organizations, contractors and outside vendors.
Conducts walkdowns and design review meetings.
Prepares written technical documents such as design criteria, scope documents, specifications, and reports.
Develops, evaluates, and recommends alternative project proposals.
Solicits, prepares, and evaluates contracts and proposals from engineering consultants.
Reviews consultant contracts for technical compliance.
Interprets and applies applicable codes and regulations.
Participates in the development of effective restoration plans. Assists in root cause analysis.
Approves reports, new drawings, and revisions to existing drawings for projects.
In emergencies, promptly responds to facility failures.
Represents PG&E to government bodies as required for assigned projects.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited U.S. program or equivalent international program.
• Minimum of three years of cumulative engineering and design experience (For Major Projects, 3+ yrs experience specifically within Electric Transmission - reconductoring, build jobs, etc. & overhead experience)
• Strong understanding of project team roles and responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision to meet project commitments.
• Skilled in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in interpreting and applying codes, standards, and regulations.
• Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
• Provides thorough analysis and justification for recommendations.
• Takes ownership of issues and drives solutions.
