Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a of Mission Products & Payload Integration to lead the development of our client’s mission product layer — the core systems and interfaces that enable customers to successfully integrate and fly payloads. Our client is an emerging aerospace technology company focused on developing advanced reentry systems that enable rapid, global delivery capabilities from low-Earth orbit. Their platform is designed to support both national security and future commercial applications, operating at the cutting edge of hypersonic flight, space logistics, and precision landing technologies.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role operating much like a senior individual contributor, with direct involvement in payload integration, system design, and customer-facing technical discussions.
Reporting into executive leadership, you will work at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer needs — defining how payloads interface mechanically, electrically, thermally, and digitally with flight systems.
You will initially operate as an independent leader (no direct reports), with the opportunity to build and scale a team over time.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Technical Roadmap
• Define and own the roadmap for mission products, including payload integration, mission design, and customer-facing capabilities
• Translate customer needs into scalable, repeatable technical offerings
• Drive product development from concept through flight execution in partnership with engineering teams
Payload Integration & System Design (Hands-On)
• Lead the design of payload bay architectures, mounting systems, and modular interface solutions
• Define payload envelopes, environmental constraints, and integration standards
• Own mechanical, electrical, thermal, and software interfaces for payload accommodation
• Work directly in the design and integration work — not just oversight
Mission Design & Analysis
• Guide development of mission design offerings including trajectory design, flight environment characterization, and CONOPS
• Collaborate across GNC, avionics, propulsion, structures, and operations teams
• Ensure mission feasibility and alignment between customer objectives and vehicle capabilities
Payload Interface Ecosystem
• Define the avionics, software, and data interface ecosystem supporting payload integration
• Oversee development of command/data handling, telemetry access, and integration tooling
• Deliver customer-facing tools, documentation, APIs, and onboarding processes
Customer Engagement
• Act as a primary technical interface with customers
• Work closely with business development to shape mission concepts and payload opportunities
• Translate complex engineering constraints into clear, actionable options for customers
Team Building & Leadership
• Operate as a hands-on leader with direct technical contribution
• Hire and build a multidisciplinary team over time (systems, mission design, payload integration, etc.)
• Establish processes and technical standards for mission product development
