Job Description
Our client is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and lifecycle management of advanced space and national security systems. This individual will play a key role in systems engineering activities across acquisition, payload integration, requirements development, testing, and mission execution.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong systems engineering background supporting DoD, aerospace, or space programs, with experience working across multiple engineering disciplines and interfacing directly with customers and government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end systems engineering efforts throughout the entire system lifecycle.
Develop, analyze, and manage system requirements, specifications, and verification strategies.
Support proposal development, RFP responses, acquisition activities, and capture efforts.
Translate customer and mission needs into quantifiable technical requirements.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful system integration and performance.
Lead requirements verification, validation, and customer acceptance testing activities.
Participate in system architecture development, design reviews, and technical evaluations.
Serve as a customer-facing liaison supporting business development and program execution.
Develop system-level test procedures and ensure compliance with government and contractual requirements.
Support launch campaigns, mission rehearsals, and operational readiness activities.
Salary Range: 160-180k

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
5+ years of Systems Engineering experience (client is open to both mid-level and senior-level candidates, including those with significantly more experience).
Active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance.
Experience in systems integration, requirements management, verification, and validation.
Background supporting defense, aerospace, intelligence, or space programs.
Experience supporting proposals, RFP responses, or acquisition management activities.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
Payload integration for space or national security programs.
Integrating payloads operating at varying classification levels.
Visual or sensor payload integration.
Working with cybersecurity teams to obtain and maintain IATTs and ATOs.
Launch campaign execution, mission exercises, and operational rehearsals.
Experience supporting programs such as Payload Flare, Tetra, or related space mission efforts.
