Job Description
A leading organization in the biometrics and identity solutions space, is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support a web-based enrollment application within a U.S. federal program. This role focuses on building and maintaining secure, scalable systems that integrate software with biometric hardware, supporting identity proofing efforts across multiple states.
You’ll join a collaborative engineering team working in an agile environment, partnering closely with product owners, designers, and technical leads to deliver high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain full stack applications using React (frontend) and TypeScript/Node.js (backend)
• Integrate hardware systems into software platforms, including new development work
• Build and manage APIs, including API Gateway integrations and third-party services
• Work in an AWS environment, utilizing tools such as S3 and cloud pipelines
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
• Collaborate with product owners and UI/UX designers to deliver intuitive user experiences
• Ensure code quality, testing, and QA approval prior to deployment
Work alongside a backend-focused team (5–6 engineers) to deliver scalable solutions

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of full stack development experience (flexible for strong 3–5 year candidate)
• Strong backend development experience with TypeScript (Node.js)
• Proficiency with React for modern UI development (Material UI is a plus)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, especially S3
• Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred) and version control best practices (branching/merging)
• Experience with databases:
• PostgreSQL
• DynamoDB
• AWS RDS
• Exposure to DevOps practices (pipeline maintenance vs. heavy build-out)
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with biometrics, identity proofing, or enrollment systems
• Background in hardware + software integration
• Experience with WebSockets or real-time communication protocols
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK
• Experience with Docker or containerization
• Exposure to microservices architecture
• Knowledge of advanced TypeScript concepts
• Experience supporting applications with large user bases (100K+ users)
• Understanding of security best practices and performance optimization
• Experience working closely with UI/UX designers
