Staff Engineer

Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a Staff Engineer for a leading retail and eCommerce client. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for driving frontend architecture, engineering excellence, and cross-team coordination across critical customer-facing experiences. The role focuses on lower-funnel eCommerce platforms, including checkout, post-purchase journeys, returns, and exchanges. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in React, Next.js, GraphQL, and AWS while possessing the leadership skills necessary to mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and coordinate development efforts across multiple teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments and enjoys solving complex scalability and customer experience challenges.

Day-to-Day:
• Provide technical leadership and coordination across multiple frontend engineering teams
• Support lower-funnel eCommerce experiences including:
○ Cart and checkout
○ Post-purchase workflows
○ Returns and exchanges
• Collaborate with North America and international development teams
• Drive frontend architecture and design decisions
• Ensure optimal website performance, scalability, and reliability
• Oversee build, deployment, and testing processes
• Support CI/CD pipelines and configuration management initiatives
• Mentor developers and establish engineering best practices
• Coordinate cross-team initiatives with both internal and external stakeholders

Must-Haves:
• 8–12 years of Frontend Development experience
• Strong expertise with:
○ Next.js
○ React
○ GraphQL
○ AWS deployment services
• Architecture and application design experience
• 4–6+ years of technical leadership experience
• Experience mentoring and leading developers across multiple teams
• Experience overseeing:
○ Web performance
○ Reliability
○ Maintainability
• Strong understanding of:
○ Build, deployment, and testing processes
○ CI/CD pipelines
○ Configuration management
• Experience with:
○ Webpack
○ GitLab
○ AWS EKS
○ AWS Lambda deployments
- Retail or eCommerce industry experience (Huge Value Add)
• Experience supporting high-volume consumer-facing websites

Plusses:
• Experience working on checkout, post-purchase, returns, or exchange platforms
• Experience coordinating initiatives across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders
• Experience supporting globally distributed teams
