Job Description
This Civil Engineer role supports a high‑volume portfolio of capital and maintenance projects across hydro, industrial, and electrical infrastructure. The successful candidate will step into an established workflow supporting consultant management, project engineering, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
The engineer will manage approximately 20 active projects at any given time, ranging from early‑stage Class 3/4/5 estimates through construction support. The work blends technical civil/structural engineering, project management, and field investigation, ensuring consultant deliverables meet standards and that site conditions are fully understood.
Consultant Management — Track consultant progress, review deliverables, ensure formatting and standards compliance
Project Engineering — Provide technical civil/structural input, make sound engineering decisions, and support design development
Field Support — 1–2 days/week on site to assess conditions, validate drawings, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with site personnel
Stakeholder Coordination — Work with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to align project needs
Review Meetings — Lead design reviews, evaluate proposed solutions, and drive improvements
Project Portfolio Management — Oversee ~20 projects simultaneously, ensuring cost‑effective execution and timely support
General Civil Engineering Duties — Support the broader engineering group with technical tasks, assessments, and documentation

Required Skills & Experience
P.Eng in BC — Must be fully licensed to practice independently
Strong organizational & decision‑making ability — Able to manage 20+ projects and make sound engineering judgments
Blend of project management + technical civil/structural skill
Local to the region — Frequent site visits; must understand real‑world conditions
Experience as a Project Engineer — Comfortable owning engineering decisions and coordinating deliverables
Industrial/Heavy Civil background — Electrical utility, hydro, mining, or commercial/industrial environments
Experience with rehabilitation of older infrastructure
Microsoft Suite proficiency
3–5 years of experience — Least important; capability > years
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Hydro power experience — Strong asset given project environment
Owner‑operator background — Familiarity with utility‑side processes
Self‑starter — Able to independently run projects with minimal oversight
Experience managing multiple consultants
