Position Overview – Infrastructure Engineer (End User Computing / VDI)
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer – End User Computing with deep expertise in VDI across hybrid environments. This role oversees the architecture, engineering, administration, and optimization of AVD, VMware Horizon, on‑prem VDI, and Windows 365 Cloud PC. The engineer ensures secure, high‑performing, scalable desktop services by working across data center operations, cloud engineering, and end‑user platform modernization.
Key Responsibilities
1. VDI Architecture & Engineering
Design, optimize, and support AVD, VMware Horizon, and Windows 365 Cloud PC
Manage image lifecycle, gold images, capacity planning, and multi‑region deployments
Engineer scalable, high‑availability VDI solutions aligned to enterprise SLAs
2. Virtualization & Data Center Infrastructure
Administer vSphere/ESXi clusters, storage, compute, and VM resources
Support hybrid infrastructure across on‑prem and Azure environments
Configure SAN/NAS, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services
3. Performance & Monitoring
Monitor VDI performance, capacity, and availability across all platforms
Troubleshoot complex issues (latency, login delays, profiles, VM performance)
Perform root-cause analysis and maintain monitoring dashboards (Azure Monitor, ControlUp, vROps)
4. Security & Compliance
Apply Zero Trust principles and maintain patching and hardening standards
Integrate AD, Entra ID, and Group Policy
Support MFA, conditional access, and identity-based access controls
5. Lifecycle & Operational Ownership
Patch and upgrade Windows Server, Windows 10/11, AVD host pools, and Horizon
Maintain DR, backups, documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagrams
Provide Tier‑3 support, contribute to ITIL processes, and mentor team members
Additional Capabilities
Ownership of enterprise VDI environments (including major customers like Verizon)
General infrastructure support: server deployments, VM troubleshooting, application‑level diagnosis
Full‑stack VDI troubleshooting: VM → infrastructure → application layers
White‑glove support for Customer Service and Finance (~400 users) and cloud VDI users (~200)
Contribution to Azure cloud migration and evolving VDI strategy

Required Skills & Experience
8–10
years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Data Center
Administration, or VDI Administration
Hands‑on
expertise with AVD, VMware Horizon, on‑prem VDI, and Windows
365 Cloud PC.
Strong
experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi, cluster operations, and
resource optimization.
Deep
knowledge of Windows Server (2016–2022), Windows 10/11
Enterprise, AD, GPO, DNS, and DHCP.
Solid
understanding of enterprise networking and storage fundamentals.
Experience
troubleshooting performance issues in large‑scale VDI environments.
Familiarity
with ITSM tools and structured incident/change workflows.
Excellent
documentation and communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Microsoft
Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900) or Azure Administrator (AZ‑104).
VMware
VCP certification.
Windows
Server certification.
Experience
with FSLogix, App Volumes, or MSIX App Attach.
PowerShell
scripting and automation experience.
Experience
with ARM/Bicep/Terraform for infrastructure deployment.
Experience
in 24x7 enterprise environments.
Exposure
to monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, vRealize
Operations, ControlUp, etc.
