Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff SATCOM Algorithm Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and integration of next-generation satellite communication modem systems and signal processing solutions. This role focuses on defining system-level requirements, developing advanced SATCOM algorithms and waveforms, and guiding FPGA-based modem implementations from concept through integration and testing. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in satellite communications systems engineering, including signal processing, DVB‑S2X and related waveforms, and hands-on experience with VHDL design and FPGA-based architectures. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless subsystem integration, leverage simulation tools such as MATLAB, and support high-performance communications solutions across ground-based SATCOM platforms. Strong leadership, technical communication, and the ability to drive complex system development in a lab-based environment are essential for success in this role.

Additional Responsibilities:

Architect, design, develop and integrate ground-based satellite modem systems, including:
- High level architecture and requirements definition
- Support FPGA-based modem implementation
- Includes VHDL design and implementation of satellite communications waveforms and related signal processing algorithms
- Support/lead integration of communications subsystems.

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. - Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, or related degree.
- 10+ years of Satellite Communications Systems Engineering or related experience.
- High level architecture of Communications systems
- Algorithm development and digital signal processing - satcom preferred for link budgeting
- Knowledge of FPGA based implementation (modems)
- Simulation tools like MATLAB
- Experience with lab measurement tools - need to follow design all the way through to testing hands on with hardware in the lab
- Development of FPGA code with VHDL
- Satcom or wireless waveform knowledge preferred (DVB-S2, DVB-S2X, or other 5G non terrestrial waveforms.)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Strong SATCOM systems engineering experience
- SATCOM signal processing / algorithm development expertise
- Strong VHDL design and implementation experience
- Knowledge of SATCOM waveforms such as DVB-S2X
- Knowledge of FPGA-based implementation of SATCOM modems and related signal processing (FPGA capabilities and limitations, SERDES interfaces, Ethernet interfaces, A/D and DACs, L-band interfaces)
- Experience with communications simulation tools (e.g. Matlab)
- Experience with laboratory measurement tools (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERT, etc.)
- Proficient in software languages (C, C++ )
- Working knowledge of communication networks and security within a zero-trust environment
