Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Project Engineer to support a large power generation company's Solar Project. This will be an 18-month contract, 3 days a week on site in Edmonton, Alberta. The project engineer will be supporting the technical execution, utility integration, and commissioning efforts for a utility-scale renewable energy project that is currently in the latter stages of engineering. The Project Engineer will work closely with the owner, EPC partners, engineering consultants, and the utility to coordinate technical deliverables, manage documentation requirements, and support project execution through commissioning and turnover.

This individual will serve as a key technical resource for the project, helping to manage utility interconnection requirements, review engineering and controls scope, coordinate stakeholder communication, and support integration between site systems and the operational infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong electrical or controls engineering background, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence project direction when required.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5 - 10 years of project engineering experience within power generation, utilities, renewable energy, or industrial infrastructure projects
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, wind, electrical infrastructure, or power generation projects
- Strong understanding of utility interconnection and integration processes
- Experience supporting commissioning activities and project turnover
- Knowledge of electrical systems, controls systems, and HMI platforms
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, design packages, and technical documentation
- Ability to coordinate between EPC contractors, engineering consultants, utilities, and project stakeholders
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence discussions and confidently voice technical opinions
- Experience managing documentation, revisions, approvals, and utility information requests
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- P.Eng designation

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering background
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar projects
