Job Description

A customer of Insight Global is looking to hire a Document Control Supervisor.

This individual will lead a team of approximately 15 document control professionals supporting large-scale engineering and project operations. The role is heavily focused on people leadership, workload planning, process standardization, training, and ensuring document management activities are executed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary escalation point for document control issues, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and help drive consistency across global document management processes and systems. Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are critical in this fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Day to Day:
Supervise and manage a team of approximately 15 Document Controllers, ensuring quality, productivity, and adherence to project timelines.
Conduct quarterly employee check-ins, provide coaching and mentorship, and support employee development initiatives.
Manage team workload forecasting, staffing allocation, PTO coverage, and operational continuity.
Serve as the first escalation point for document control issues and partner with leadership to resolve complex challenges.
Oversee document lifecycle activities including document intake, metadata management, workflow routing, approvals, and transmittals.
Ensure compliance with document management procedures, numbering structures, filing conventions, and client requirements.
Support process improvement and standardization efforts associated with EDMS platforms and global document management initiatives.
Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, suppliers, and clients to ensure efficient document flow and successful project delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Must have:
3+ years of direct people leadership experience managing and developing professional employees in a supervisory or management capacity.
Experience supervising teams of 10–15+ employees with responsibility for workload planning, performance management, and staffing coordination.
5+Document Control, Records Management, or Document Management experience within a technical or engineering environment.
Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) such as ProArc, OpenText, or similar platforms.
Strong knowledge of document control processes, metadata, document numbering, revision control, approvals, and transmittal workflows.
Advanced English communication skills with experience interacting with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients.
Highly detail-oriented and organized, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice to have:
Oil & Gas, EPC, Subsea, Engineering, Manufacturing, Energy, or Industrial project experience.
ProArc experience.
Experience leading document control standardization or process improvement initiatives.
SharePoint experience.
Experience supporting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
