Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Researcher – Controls, Signal Processing & Algorithm Development for a leading energy technology organization. This candidate will play a key role in developing advanced control systems, signal processing solutions, and next-generation algorithms that support electrification, renewable energy, and grid modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a research-driven mindset to create innovative technologies, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, influence future product roadmaps, and help accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
Day-to-Day:
Develop advanced controls, modeling, signal processing, and algorithm technologies for next-generation energy products
Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges
Conduct hands-on research focused on electrification, renewable energy, and energy transition initiatives
Support proposal development, idea generation, and new technology programs
Partner with universities, research institutions, and small businesses to expand technical capabilities
Provide technical consultation and support on project execution, analysis, and problem-solving efforts
Contribute to strategic technology initiatives across wind, gas power, and broader energy businesses
Present technical findings, recommendations, and program updates to leadership teams
Help identify technical risks and contribute to mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution

Required Skills & Experience
PhD in Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 7-10 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
3+ years contributing to cross-functional engineering teams and technical projects
Deep expertise in advanced controls, analytics, signal processing, or algorithm development
Strong technical problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience developing innovative technologies from concept through validation and implementation
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
Experience contributing to large-scale R&D or advanced research programs
Prior mentorship or leadership of junior engineers and researchers
Experience collaborating with universities, government-funded programs, or external research partners
Strong publication, patent, or conference presentation record
Background in renewable energy, power generation, electrification, wind energy, or grid technologies
Ability to thrive in highly matrixed and multidisciplinary environments
Experience with modeling, controls, optimization, and signal processing applications in industrial systems
