Bilingual Full Stack Developer

This is a backfill for an existing consultant on a long-running healthcare portal project at BCBS Alabama. Phase 1 is complete and the team has a solid process in place, so ramp-up will be faster than a greenfield engagement. Phase 2 is now underway, focused on converting a new set of member-facing applications.
You’ll work primarily on the frontend (80%) building and maintaining member portal applications in React 18, with some backend work in Java and Spring Boot (20%). The team writes their own tests, so you’ll be expected to handle unit and integration testing for your own code. A key part of this role is supporting bilingual functionality — the apps serve both English and Spanish-speaking members, and Spanish text consolidation adds real UI complexity that requires someone who can code, test, and do code reviews fluently in both languages.

∙ 5+ years of full stack development experience
∙ Strong React 18, JavaScript, and TypeScript skills
∙ Java and Spring Boot experience
∙ DB2 and/or SQL Server
∙ Experience writing unit and integration tests
∙ Fluent in Spanish and English — written, verbal, and technical

∙ Healthcare or insurance industry background
∙ Familiarity with AI prompting tools / cloud code assistants (GitHub Copilot, etc.)
∙ Agile experience
