Job Description
Day to Day:
Create accurate component models (CAD symbols and models) in electronic CAD systems, ensuring compliance with Collins Aerospace standards and practices.
• Develop electrical schematic symbols, PCB layout component models, and land patterns using tools such as Mentor Xpedition EDM Library, Cadence Allegro Library Manager, Altium Designer, or other enterprise library management systems.
• Load appropriate attribute data into several enterprise systems to ensure data accuracy and availability.
• Self-check work to meet part requirements and guidelines for fabrication, assembly, and testing of circuit card assemblies.
• Documentation and Deliverables Generate and deliver design documentation, including but not limited to: Gerber files ODB++ files Harness drawings using supported design tools (e.g., Altium Harness Draftsman or equivalent).
• Provide reverse-engineered documentation for hardware-only designs provided by Collins Aerospace.
• Maintain and deliver updated and validated library components for long-term use.
• Interpret component drawings and specifications to produce accurate CAD symbols and models.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and producibility engineering disciplines to ensure design and library requirements are comprehensively captured and executed.
• Establish and maintain relationships to resolve issues and identify missing data, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
• Provide Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving Apply technical expertise to provide solutions for complex PCB designs, including placement, routing, auto-router usage, and constraint management.
• Utilize reference documents and apply information to decision-making processes.
• Other scope as required.

Required Skills & Experience
• Must have demonstrated experience with Mentor Xpedition EDM Library, following ECAD tools or library management systems preferred in addition:
• Cadence Allegro Library Manager
• Altium Designer Library Tools
• Familiarity with computer directory structures and file configurations in a Windows operating system.
• Mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of electronic functions, math, and geometry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to continually learn new technologies and processes.
