Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Care Coordinator (Referral Coordinator) for a healthcare client. This individual will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of patient referrals, ensuring all authorizations, documentation, and scheduling are handled accurately and efficiently.

The role requires strong communication with patients and internal clinical staff, as well as attention to detail in tracking referral progress and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Day-to-Day:
• Coordinate and process all patient referrals for specialty services
• Ensure proper authorizations are obtained and documented
• Communicate with patients for scheduling and follow-ups
• Coordinate pre-admission testing with clinic staff and patients
• Enter referral and authorization data into the system (hospital, outpatient, DME, etc.)
• Track and follow up on missing referral reports
• Receive, document, and route consultant reports to physicians
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely administrative completion
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and internal teams
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and company procedures

Required Skills & Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong medical office experience (referrals, front office, or care coordination)
• Experience processing referrals/authorizations (HMO experience highly preferred)
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and PHI handling
• Strong communication and customer service skills (patient-facing)
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience
• Reliable attendance and professionalism

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with EMR systems
• Medical coding knowledge
• HMO referral processing background
• Experience coordinating pre-admission testing or specialty services
• Bilingual in English/Spanish
