Job Description

A Higher Education client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior BI Developer to support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions within the School of Medicine. This individual will work closely with data owners and stakeholders to translate business processes and requirements into scalable reporting tools, dashboards, and data models that support operational and strategic decision-making. This role involves full lifecycle BI development, including building and enhancing reports in tools such as Power BI and SSRS, developing and maintaining SQL Server databases, and supporting SSAS tabular models through creation of measures, relationships, and row-level security. The BI Developer will also assist with ETL processes, including monitoring data pipelines, troubleshooting performance issues, and optimizing SQL queries and integrations to ensure system reliability and efficiency. Additionally, this role will contribute to data warehouse design and architecture, support documentation of data processes and business rules, and provide ongoing support to end users by resolving reporting issues and managing requests. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across both technical and business teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

This position is a 6 month contract role with possibility of extensions and/or conversion, and can pay between $50-65/hour with medical benefits and 401k options offered on contract. Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, or similar technical role
- Strong experience with SQL (queries, stored procedures, views, user-defined functions)
- Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server and/or Oracle
- Experience building and supporting reporting and BI tools
- Experience with data warehousing concepts such as data marts, star schemas, facts, and dimensions

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
- Experience with SSAS Tabular models and DAX
- Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline optimization
- Experience with Azure data tools (Data Factory, Functions, Blob Storage)
- Experience implementing row-level security and data governance practices
- Experience with Power Query (M language)
- Familiarity with Git or other version control tools
- Experience in healthcare or higher education environments
