Job Description

We are seeking an experienced M365 Testing Engineer Lead to drive testing strategy, quality assurance, and governance across a complex Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This individual will lead regression testing efforts spanning Exchange Online (EXO), SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft 365 Core Services, Robotics, Client Workstation Packaging, and Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance platforms including Microsoft Defender and Email Routing solutions.
The ideal candidate will serve as the bridge between engineering, security, compliance, and business stakeholders, translating requirements into comprehensive testing strategies while ensuring quality, stability, governance, and regulatory compliance across the M365 environment. This role includes ownership of lower testing rings (lanes) that support ongoing continuous regression testing and release validation.
Key Responsibilities
Testing Leadership & Strategy
• Define and execute enterprise M365 testing and automation strategies.
• Lead end-to-end regression testing across:
o Exchange Online (EXO)
o Microsoft Teams
o SharePoint Online
o Microsoft 365 Core Services
o Client Workstation Packaging
o Robotics/Automation Platforms
o Microsoft Defender
o Email Routing & Messaging Infrastructure
• Translate business, engineering, user experience, security, and compliance requirements into test plans, test cases, and validation criteria.
• Drive test planning, execution, defect management, reporting, and quality metrics.
• Review test results and provide recommendations for release readiness.
Governance & Compliance
• Establish testing governance standards, quality controls, and testing best practices across M365 platforms.
• Partner with Security, Risk, Compliance, and Infrastructure teams to validate security controls and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure testing processes align with organizational governance frameworks, audit requirements, and operational controls.
• Track testing KPIs, quality metrics, defect trends, and compliance reporting.

Automation & Continuous Testing
• Define automation frameworks and testing standards.
• Drive common testing tools, frameworks, and reusable automation practices.
• Establish automated regression suites and continuous testing capabilities.
• Oversee test data generation, environment management, and test execution optimization.
• Support continuous testing models through ownership of lower environment testing rings and validation pipelines.


This is onsite 3 days a week in New York, NY. This is offering 56-58/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Quality Assurance, Testing, Automation, or Software Validation experience.
• 3+ years leading enterprise testing programs or QA teams.
• Strong experience testing Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 Security solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing testing frameworks and automation strategies.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Defender, security controls, compliance validation, and email routing technologies.
• Experience with defect management, test planning, reporting, and release governance.
• Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITIL/ITSM) principles.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting large enterprise financial services or highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with governance frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, NIST, or similar control frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing tools, and continuous integration practices.
• Exposure to Microsoft Purview, compliance monitoring, or Microsoft security governance initiatives.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certifications, ISTQB, ITIL, or equivalent.
