Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking for an Analytics Engineer Consultant to help modernize their analytics platform by migrating business logic from Looker to dbt and building a scalable analytics foundation in Snowflake.

This is a hands-on consulting role focused on building trusted, reusable data models that power reporting, self-service analytics, and AI.

Responsibilities
· Migrate business logic, calculations, and metrics from Looker into dbt.
· Design and develop scalable dbt models following analytics engineering best practices.
· Build and optimize data models in Snowflake.
· Partner with business stakeholders to understand and translate Marketing, Sales, and Finance reporting requirements into reusable data models.
· Standardize business logic and metric definitions to improve consistency and governance.
· Write clean, modular, and well-documented SQL and dbt code.
· Develop automated tests and documentation within dbt.
· Optimize Snowflake performance, cost, and query efficiency.
· Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and automate repetitive engineering tasks.
· Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to analytics engineering standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

· 4–6 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence.
· Strong hands-on experience with dbt Core, including optimizing dbt models and snapshots, and managing dbt projects.
· Strong experience with data governance in Snowflake.
· Expert-level SQL skills.
· Experience migrating or centralizing business logic from BI tools into dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
· Experience supporting one or more- marketing, sales/GTM, finance
· Experience staging raw data sources, building dimensional data models and analytics-ready datasets.
