Job Description
A manufacturing client of Insight Global is seeking an experienced RPG Programmer to support a short-term project focused on enhancing an existing RPG report within their IBM i (AS/400) environment. This individual will work within established applications and reports, making modifications and improvements to existing RPG programs rather than building new applications from scratch.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing in RPG IV/RPGLE and Open RPG, along with the ability to write and optimize Embedded SQL and complex DB2 for i queries. Day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing existing program logic, implementing report enhancements, updating SQL-based data retrieval processes, troubleshooting issues, validating system functionality, and ensuring all changes align with business requirements.
This role requires someone who can quickly understand existing codebases, work independently, and deliver enhancements with minimal oversight in a legacy IBM i environment.
This is a fully remote offshore opportunity expected to last approximately 2 months. This remote role will range from $18-$22 an hour offshore.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of RPG IV / RPGLE development experience
- Hands-on experience with Open RPG
- Strong experience with Embedded SQL
- Strong SQL development and query optimization skills
- Experience working with DB2 for i databases
- Experience supporting IBM i (AS/400) environments
- Experience modifying and enhancing existing RPG programs and reports
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and validate code changes
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting legacy enterprise applications
- Familiarity with performance tuning within IBM i environments
- Experience documenting technical enhancements and code changes
- Exposure to ERP systems integrated with IBM i platforms
