Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a seasoned engineer to join a container-first, OpenShift-native environment and needs an additional senior engineer to bridge gaps between traditional virtualization and modern container platforms. This individual will assess current-state infrastructure, design solutions, and stand up net-new environments across hybrid architectures. The successful candidate will be comfortable with 1 day on site a week.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong OpenShift experience (OCP 4.x, cluster design, deployment, scaling) (4+ years)
• Strong containerization expertise (pods, nodes, services, ingress, networking, RBAC) with Docker or Kubernetes
• Hands on experience with Infra as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps, ArgoCD)
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton)
• Deep understanding of container runtimes (CRI-O, containerd, Docker)
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems (RHEL, networking, storage, kernel basics)
• Virtualization fundamentals (hypervisors, VM lifecycle, compute/storage/network abstraction)
• Experience with hybrid infra (on-prem + cloud, bare metal provisioning)
• Strong networking knowledge (VPC, SDN, overlay networks, ingress/egress, load balancing)
• Storage concepts (Ceph, OpenShift Data Foundation, persistent volumes, CSI drivers)
• Experience building environments from scratch (bootstrap clusters, infra bring-up)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Red Hat stack: OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), RHEL
• Familiarity with hypervisors (VMware ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V concepts – no need to be SME)
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift Virtualization / KubeVirt (VMs on K8s)
• IBM ecosystem: IBM Cloud, Cloud Paks, middleware integrations
• Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
• Experience migrating legacy VM workloads into containerized platforms
• Exposure to service mesh (Istio, OpenShift Service Mesh)
