Job Description

Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials on commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• Conduct density/compaction testing, concrete sampling, slump, air content, temperature testing, and cylinder preparation.
• Observe site conditions and verify construction activities comply with project specifications and engineering requirements.
• Accurately document test results, observations, and daily field activities.
• Communicate findings to project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Transport, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment.
• Follow ASTM, ACI, and other applicable testing standards.
• Adhere to company and project-specific safety requirements.
Preferred Certifications
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
• Nuclear Gauge/Radiation Safety Certification
• NICET Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt
• ICC certifications (growth path)

ICC Special Inspector
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Perform special inspections required by building codes for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, fireproofing, soils, and other structural components.
• Verify construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
• Review drawings and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
• Observe and document installation of structural elements and construction materials.
• Perform field testing and inspection activities related to assigned ICC certifications.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and communicate deficiencies or non-conforming work.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers to resolve construction issues.
• Maintain quality documentation required by regulatory agencies and clients.
• Ensure compliance with Wisconsin special inspection requirements and applicable ICC standards.

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / NDT Inspector
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Perform inspection of structural steel welding and bolted connections in accordance with project specifications and AWS standards.
• Conduct visual welding inspections and verify weld quality, fit-up, and compliance.
• Observe fabrication and erection activities for structural steel projects.
• Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection documentation.
• Perform or coordinate non-destructive testing (UT, MT, PT, RT, VT) as required.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports for project teams and clients.
• Work closely with engineers, contractors, and fabricators to address deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Verify compliance with applicable construction codes, AWS standards, and project requirements.
• Maintain inspection equipment and ensure proper calibration and certification records.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ months of experience doing CMT testing
o For higher level ICC/CWI/NDT positions
 ICC soils, concrete, asphalt, or masonry
 CWI – structural steel specific
- ACI Field Testing certification

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- ICC Certifications
- NICET Level II certifications
- AWS OR CAWI certifications
