Job Description

The Production Line Leader serves as the on-floor leader for a manufacturing team, combining hands-on equipment operation with leadership, coordination, and oversight responsibilities. This individual ensures the production line runs safely, efficiently, and within quality standards.
This role partners closely with operators, technicians, supervisors, and quality teams to manage schedules, troubleshoot issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure production, quality, and safety goals are met. The Lead is a working team member who sets performance standards, follows procedures, and keeps leadership informed of progress and risks.

What a Typical Day Looks Like
• Start shift reviewing goals, staffing, and materials
• Ensure line is set up and ready to hit production targets
• Direct operators and adjust staffing throughout the day
• Perform hourly checks on safety, quality, and output
• Troubleshoot equipment or process issues in real-time
• Communicate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, quality, material handlers, etc.)
• Coach team members while reinforcing safety and performance standards
• End shift by documenting performance and handing off updates

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Experience operating production equipment (assembly line, CNC, injection molding, etc.)
Knowledge of quality control practices and ability to read specifications
Ability to lead and coach others in a team setting
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime/weekends

Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a team lead or leadership role in manufacturing
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and SPC
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (5 Whys, DMAIC, etc.)
Knowledge of material properties (polymers, metals, composites)
Equipment certifications (forklift, overhead crane, etc.)
