Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a NetApp Installation Engineer to support enterprise storage implementation projects
for customers across multiple locations. This position is responsible for the onsite installation,
configuration, deployment, expansion, and hardware upgrade of NetApp storage solutions in both
new and live production environments.
Working in cross-functional environments, the NetApp Installation Engineer collaborates with
representatives and customer organizations to execute engineering initiatives involving
administration, configuration, deployments, installations, hardware refresh activities, and support of
enterprise storage environments. The position requires extensive travel and the ability to work
independently while delivering high-quality technical services in enterprise data centers.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of NetApp storage platforms,
storage networking, and enterprise infrastructure, with the ability to install, configure, validate, and
troubleshoot complex storage environments while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Perform onsite installation, configuration, deployment, validation, and hardware upgrades of NetApp
enterprise storage systems.
• Install and support NetApp storage platforms including AFF, A1K, ASA, FAS, MetroCluster IP, and
StorageGRID.
• Perform controller installations, upgrades, and headswaps.
• Install disk shelves, perform disk additions, and execute capacity expansions in live production
environments.
• Perform hardware refresh activities.
• Install, configure, update firmware, and troubleshoot Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Brocade switching
environments, including Reference Configuration File (RCF) installations for new deployments and RCF
upgrades of existing systems.
• Rack, stack, cable, and deploy NetApp storage systems and associated switching infrastructure, including
SFPs and storage peripheral hardware.
• Configure AutoSupport (ASUP), perform storage failover activities, and validate successful installations.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to understand requirements and
communicate technical recommendations to storage professionals.
• Translate customer requirements into technical and system specifications and configurations.
• Provide technical analysis to ensure storage solutions are operationally sound.
• Execute and document testing completed on NetApp hardware and software.
• Comprehend technical documentation including logical and physical system diagrams, rack elevation
diagrams, system specifications, data flow diagrams, test plans, and as-built documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

-Certifications: NetAPP Certified Data Administrator and NetAPP Certified Storage Installation Engineer (can get cert before start date)
-Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing rack, stack, cabling, and hardware deployment of
NetApp storage systems and switches
-Strong knowledge of NetApp technologies including ONTAP, Clustered Data ONTAP (C-DOT), 7-Mode,
OnCommand, Hardware Universe (HWU), SmartSolve, and Active IQ.
-Experience installing and supporting NetApp storage platforms including AFF, A1K, ASA, FAS,
MetroCluster, and StorageGRID.
-Experience performing controller installations, upgrades/headswaps, hardware refresh activities, shelf
additions, disk additions, and capacity expansions in live production environments.
-Experience with Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Brocade switch technologies, including experience performing
RCF installations and upgrades.
-Familiarity with SFPs, fiber optic and copper cabling, and storage peripheral hardware.
