Position Overview:
The Medical Director provides clinical leadership and direct patient care within an outpatient primary care setting focused on serving individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, overseeing clinical outcomes, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions.
Diagnose, treat, and develop ongoing care plans for HIV-positive patients in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
Manage a daily patient panel of approximately 15-18 patients while maintaining quality care standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams including nurses, case managers, behavioral health providers, and specialists.
Serve as a clinical resource and leader for providers and support staff.
Support implementation of evidence-based treatment protocols and best practices for HIV care.
Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, and compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities.
Provide patient education related to HIV management, prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Stay current on emerging HIV treatments, therapies, and clinical guidelines.

Required Skills & Experience
Active MD or DO license in the applicable state.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in one of the following:
Internal Medicine
Family Medicine
Adult Gerontology
Infectious Disease
Active DEA registration and furnishing/prescribing authority as required by state regulations.
Prior experience diagnosing, treating, and managing HIV/AIDS patients in an outpatient primary care environment.
Ability and willingness to maintain a patient volume of approximately 15-18 patients per day.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Commitment to obtaining or maintaining AAHIVM (American Academy of HIV Medicine) Certification within 18 months of hire.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Current AAHIVM Certification.
Previous Medical Director, Lead Physician, or clinical leadership experience.
Experience caring for underserved, LGBTQ+, or high-risk patient populations.
Knowledge of HIV prevention programs, including PrEP and PEP management.
Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives, population health programs, and clinical outcome reporting.
Familiarity with value-based care models and interdisciplinary care teams.
Experience mentoring physicians, advanced practice providers, or medical staff.
