Insight Global is seeking a Strategic Analyst for a leading energy industry client. This individual will join a highly collaborative team focused on long-term load and generation forecasting, resource planning, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and data science background to help develop and automate forecasting processes while leveraging modern tools such as GitHub Copilot, Visual Studio Code, Python, Power BI, and AI-assisted development technologies.
This role will play a key part in improving forecast accuracy, monitoring industry uncertainty, and supporting critical planning decisions tied to future generation needs and transmission infrastructure investments. The candidate will prepare leadership-level reporting, develop scalable analytical solutions, and help create innovative approaches to forecasting challenges that extend 20 years into the future. Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Data science/analyst background with experience developing forecasting methodologies
• Experience utilizing GitHub and GitHub Copilot for code development and validation
• Experience with Visual Studio Code
• Power BI reporting and dashboard development or similar visualization tool
• Experience with the energy/utilities industry
• Experience organizing, maintaining, and validating code repositories
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Load forecasting experience
• Generation forecasting experience
• Resource planning experience
• Weather forecasting experience
• Electric utility, ISO, RTO, or energy market background
• Experience with transmission planning or resource adequacy studies
• AI-assisted coding experience and code quality review
• Long-range forecasting (10-20+ year outlooks)
