Job Description
The Environmental Compliance Auditor is responsible for conducting environmental audits across AT&T facilities, including mobility cell towers, data centers, and maintenance yards throughout Northern California. This role supports environmental compliance readiness by performing site assessments, identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, and providing recommended corrective actions using standardized audit checklists.
This position is focused exclusively on the execution of environmental audits and reporting. The Environmental Compliance Auditor will not escort regulatory agencies, conduct training, manage environmental compliance programs, or implement corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct environmental audits at assigned facilities using standardized audit checklists and AT&T-defined procedures.
• Evaluate site readiness and identify environmental compliance risks, deficiencies, and potential violations.
• Document audit findings and provide clear, actionable corrective actions.
• Complete and submit audit reports, checklists, and supporting documentation accurately and on time.
• Enter audit results into designated systems and maintain accurate audit records.
• Plan and manage assigned audit volume across the territory, including scheduling site visits and coordinating travel.
• Prioritize work based on business needs, regulatory activity, and direction from AT&T stakeholders.
• Support reporting, tracking, and visibility into audit activities and findings.
• Communicate audit status, findings, and completion metrics to designated stakeholders.
• Ensure audits are conducted consistently and in accordance with established environmental audit standards and processes.
Typical Work Schedule
Field Auditing (Approximately 60%)
• Conduct scheduled environmental audits at assigned facilities.
• Travel throughout the assigned territory to perform site assessments.
• Complete environmental audit checklists.
• Identify compliance gaps, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Document observations and findings.
Reporting & Administrative Activities (Approximately 40%)
• Enter audit results into designated systems and databases.
• Complete audit documentation and reporting requirements.
• Submit audit findings and corrective action recommendations.
• Review upcoming audit schedules and priorities.
• Coordinate future site visits and travel logistics.

Required Skills & Experience
• Experience conducting field audits, inspections, site assessments, or compliance reviews.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
• Ability to independently prioritize and manage a regional workload.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Demonstrated aptitude utilizing mobile technology, including iPhones, iPads, and electronic checklist applications.
• Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience conducting environmental audits or compliance assessments in California.
• Knowledge of California environmental regulations and regulatory compliance programs.
• Experience supporting or auditing Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting hazardous waste management and compliance programs.
• Experience with petroleum compliance programs, including underground storage tanks (USTs) and related regulatory requirements.
• Experience working within telecommunications, utility, industrial, maintenance yard, fleet, or data center environments.
• Experience documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Familiarity with reporting systems, audit databases, and compliance tracking tools.
