Job Description

A client is seeking a Remote Lead Payroll Specialist to join their team. On a daily basis, this individual will coordinate and validate payroll-related data across timekeeping, absence, and HRIS systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. They will perform regular audits of payroll taxes, wages, and liabilities, while reconciling discrepancies and supporting quarterly and annual compliance activities. This role is responsible for administering and tracking leave of absence programs, including validating leave statuses, coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders, and ensuring accurate payment processing and return-to-work documentation.

The administrator will monitor system integrations and data flows, troubleshoot errors, and ensure successful transmission of payroll and financial reporting data. They will also prepare analytics and reporting from payroll and absence systems, support SOC compliance through control reporting, and assist in system testing and process improvements. Additionally, this role will partner with payroll and systems teams to identify enhancements, support off-cycle payroll runs, validate third-party payments, and ensure accurate employee records, including equity and separation-related data.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience supporting payroll, timekeeping, and/or leave of absence administration
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to analyze large datasets and identify discrepancies
High level of attention to detail and accuracy, especially in auditing and validation
Experience working with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and data integrations
Strong understanding of payroll tax processes, wage analysis, and reconciliations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter who can work independently and cross-functionally
