Job Description

A lead defense contractor sitting in Simi Valley, CA is looking to hire an onsite Lean Manager of Industrial Engineering that will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and workflows, while leading Lean transformation initiatives. This person will be supporting (3) different manufacturing sites in Simi Valley, Salt Lake City, UT and Huntsville, AL which will require some travel (quarterly). This person will be responsible for material optimization flow lines, laying out new facilities, process improvements, work bench stations, setting up lean lines, etc. The production volume across their business unit ranges between 1500-1800 units/month for 4 production lines. They're looking for this manager to lead a team of (8) Industrial Engineers both in-person and remotely. They drive value stream efficiency, capacity planning, and strategic use of resources, ensuring alignment with business goals related to output, cost, quality, and lead time. This role is paying between $117,500 - $179,250, depending on years of experience and qualifications.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering or applied Manufacturing Engineering experience; Minimum of 2+ years of management experience
Strong foundation in lean manufacturing principles, familiarity with all related tools, 5s's, value stream mapping, Kaizen concepts
Related experience in high-mix, low-volume, or complex production environments
Highly experienced within the Production Floor; experience laying out new facilities, optimizing production processes, and driving data (Up time vs. Down Time, calculating yield rates, cycle time, proficiency in process simulation tools, time studies, and data analytics).
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 50%) - once quarter

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with 3D printing software, equipment, and materials +
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) strongly preferred +
Experience with simulation software (e.g., SIMIO) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) +
