Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Insurance Product Manager (E&S) for a leading insurance services organization. This candidate will take ownership of underwriting strategy, product development, and portfolio performance across a growing E&S platform. They will play a critical role in building scalable underwriting infrastructure, refining risk appetite, and launching new products across multiple states. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, carrier partners, and engineering teams to drive innovation in underwriting tools and data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and commercially minded, capable of balancing coverage quality with profitability while thriving in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
- Own underwriting authority, guidelines, eligibility, and appetite frameworks
- Make underwriting decisions including referrals and exception handling
- Develop and enhance insurance products, forms, endorsements, and filings
- Manage property programs including CAT strategy and reinsurance structures
- Monitor performance metrics like loss ratios, production, and rate adequacy
- Analyze market trends, competitor positioning, and broker feedback
- Partner with engineering teams to build underwriting tools and rating automation
- Collaborate with carriers, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders
- Drive product improvements from concept through market launch and performance tracking

Required Skills & Experience

6–9 years of experience in commercial P&C underwriting, product development, or E&S/surplus lines
Strong underwriting experience across CPP, GL, and commercial property
Deep knowledge of E&S / surplus lines markets (Lloyd’s or non-admitted paper)
Experience with multi-state product filings (ISO and proprietary forms)
Property program expertise: CAT strategy, reinsurance structures, TIV monitoring, portfolio pricing
Strong analytical skills (loss trends, rate adequacy, production data)
Ability to define underwriting guidelines, appetite, and coverage specifications
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering or tech teams on underwriting tools/automation
Comfortable interpreting and using production and broker feedback to shape strategy

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

CPCU certification (or ARM, ASLI, AU)
Active P&C and/or Surplus Lines licenses
Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment
Exposure to underwriting tooling (raters, eligibility engines, AI-driven triage)
Experience evaluating AI-generated underwriting outputs
Strong communication skills translating technical underwriting concepts to business audiences
