Job Description

The Infrastructure DevOps Engineer is responsible for implementing, automating, maintaining, and continuously improving cloud infrastructure platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, automation frameworks, and modern DevOps practices. The role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, reliable, and repeatable infrastructure solutions across multi-cloud environments while supporting the organisation's cloud platform standards and architectural direction.

Working closely with cloud architects, infrastructure engineers, security teams, and application delivery teams, the Infrastructure DevOps Engineer develops and maintains infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, governance controls, reusable platform components, and self-service capabilities that improve operational efficiency, consistency, and platform reliability. This position reports to the Manager of Platform Services.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules and deployment patterns that support standardised infrastructure provisioning.
• Implement and maintain configuration management and automation solutions using Ansible and related automation frameworks
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, validation, and operational processes through Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks.
• Manage infrastructure lifecycle processes using version-controlled and automated deployment practices
• Ensure infrastructure implementations align with established platform standards, governance requirements, and architectural principles
• Implement infrastructure testing and validation processes to improve deployment reliability.
• Contribute to improvements in infrastructure automation frameworks and deployment processes.
Cloud Platform Engineering
• Build, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure services across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.
• Implement and support cloud platform services including networking, identity, security, monitoring, and logging.
• Deploy and maintain cloud landing zones and foundational platform components
• Contribute to reusable platform services and self-service deployment capabilities.
• Participate in platform improvements that enhance reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and platform issues across cloud environments
Source Control, CI/CD & DevOps Practices
• Administer and maintain GitHub repositories, branching strategies, pull request workflows, and repository standards
• Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting infrastructure and platform deployments using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms
• Automate validation, testing, security scanning, compliance checks, and deployments for infrastructure code.
• Apply and advocate Infrastructure as Code, source control, automation, and DevOps best practices across infrastructure and engineering teams
• Support initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve deployment reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with technical teams to improve automation and platform engineering outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
• 3+ years of experience working in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related technical roles
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices across Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms; experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and/or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is desirable
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Terraform modules and infrastructure automation solutions.
• Experience implementing automation solutions using Ansible or similar tools.
• Experience automating cloud infrastructure using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of Git, GitHub, repository management, source control practices, and collaborative development workflows
• Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tooling and practices
• Good understanding of cloud networking, identity management, security, monitoring, logging, and operational services
• Experience working with cloud governance controls, policy management, and infrastructure security practices
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and infrastructure engineering best practices
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud infrastructure and automation platforms.
• Knowledge of container platforms, Kubernetes, APIs, and modern cloud-native technologies is desirable
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Terraform modules and infrastructure automation solutions.
