Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Machining Group Leader for a top manufacturing client in Flint, MI. This individual will oversee a machining production area, leading a team of 10-20 hourly employees across CNC and manual machining operations. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on leader who can drive accountability while maintaining a positive team environment. Responsibilities include supervising daily production, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, coordinating with maintenance and tooling teams to minimize downtime, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams, solving production challenges, and making a direct impact on manufacturing performance.

Day-to-Day:
• Supervise daily operations within the machining production area
• Lead and support 10-20 hourly production employees
• Oversee CNC machines, manual machining centers, and related equipment
• Ensure production schedules, takt times, and quality standards are met
• Monitor safety compliance and enforce standard work procedures
• Manage timekeeping, attendance, and employee performance
• Coach operators and provide ongoing development and accountability
• Partner with maintenance and tooling teams to minimize downtime
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities
• Troubleshoot machining and equipment-related issues
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and process capability
• Analyze production, quality, and maintenance data to identify trends and root causes
• Implement corrective actions to improve throughput and process stability
• Develop and maintain production tracking and quality control systems

Pay Range: $28-32/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment/Experience supervising UAW employees
• Experience overseeing production lines
• Ability to clearly explain process improvements implemented on a production line
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold employees accountable professionally
• Experience managing production schedules, quality standards, and safety procedures
• Experience coaching employees and conducting performance management
• Knowledge of continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Direct machining experience
• Experience with CNC machines and manual machining centers
• Background in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Experience in preventive maintenance coordination
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
