Job Description
An employer is seeking a Chief Data Officer to support the ITD in driving key priorities and advancing critical initiatives as it relates to all things data. This individual will step into a dynamic environment where there is an existing portfolio of projects and strategic efforts that require prioritization, alignment, and execution. This role is ideal for a strong operator who can quickly assess competing initiatives, establish a clear roadmap, and partner across leadership to ensure successful delivery.
Enterprise Data Leadership & Governance
o Validate and refine the existing data strategy, governance model, and operating framework
o Strengthen data ownership, standards, quality, and stewardship practices across departments
o Ensure governance structures are practical, adopted, and enabling
Portfolio Prioritization & Acceleration
o Assess the current portfolio of data, analytics, and reporting initiatives (in-flight and planned)
o Align leadership on clear priorities based on impact, feasibility, and organizational needs
o Drive focus on high-value initiatives and eliminate redundancy or low-impact efforts
Program Delivery & Operational Execution
o Lead execution across multiple concurrent data initiatives (e.g., platform modernization, reporting improvements, data integration efforts)
o Establish clear milestones, accountability, and performance metrics for delivery
o Identify and proactively remove blockers to maintain momentum
Cross-Department Alignment
o Partner with department leaders, IT, data teams, and external stakeholders to align efforts
For example- in partnership with the Transformation team, ability to review considerations & foundational elements around data as it relates to a CRM implementation.
o Break down silos and ensure consistent data practices and integration across systems
o Serve as the central point of coordination for enterprise data initiatives

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in data strategy or enterprise data leadership roles
• Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional data initiatives in large organizations (public sector experience preferred)
• Demonstrated success stepping into existing environments and accelerating execution
• Exceptional executive communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience managing large portfolios of data and analytics initiatives simultaneously
• Skilled at prioritization, resource alignment, and driving measurable outcomes
• Deep understanding of data governance, data architecture, and modern data platforms
• Ability to connect technical data concepts to business value and outcomes
