Job Description
The Vehicle Emissions Lab Technician supports emissions, development, and certification testing by preparing vehicles, loading test profiles, and performing controlled driving on EV, hybrid, and ICE vehicles. This role receives test vehicles after intake, drains and refuels them with test fuel, sets up vehicles in test cells, and drives according to strict regulatory driving metrics. The technician also performs basic inspections, OBD scans, and follows detailed testing procedures. Extensive training is provided, with most technicians reaching full competency within three months.

Required Skills & Experience
• Computer proficiency — able to use diagnostic software and read vehicle error codes
• Proactive and willing to learn — able to follow structured processes and adapt quickly
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections
• Ability to drain, refuel, and prepare vehicles for testing
• Comfortable driving EV, hybrid, and ICE vehicles under controlled test conditions
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow driving traces and metrics
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Emissions lab experience (EVAP, tailpipe, or dyno exposure)
• Dealership experience — professional automotive environment preferred
• Familiarity with EV/Hybrid systems
• Experience with diagnostic tools or emissions‑related equipment
• FACALS experience
