Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a technical Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) with expertise in implementing payment processing systems to join a banking client in Toronto or Vancouver.

• Lead the implementation and integration of the vendor payments engine / orchestration system.
• Oversee planning, ensuring timelines meet business and regulatory deadlines for Real Time Rail.
• Manage configuration of the vendor solution, development of any internal system components, and integration with upstream/downstream systems.
• Oversee end to end testing, including component, component integration and system integration testing.
• Manage implementation activities, including adherence to all internal policies and mandates.
• Work closely with vendors and third-party providers to ensure timely deliveries, managing vendor relationships and resolving technical challenges.
• Oversee a cross-functional internal team, including business analysts, solution architects, technical developers, quality assurance and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Fraud, and other stakeholders to ensure vendor / internal solutions meet business and Canadian Industry payment rail requirements.
• Drive project delivery using Waterfall and Agile methodologies, maintaining focus on milestones, timelines, and high-quality outcomes.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical and operational issues to keep the implementation phase on track.
• Provide regular updates and reports to the Program Manager, communicating project progress, risks and mitigation strategies.
• Identify and manage internal and external dependencies and escalate issues in a timely fashion.


The Sr. PM will work closely with vendors, oversee (but not directly manage) internal technical teams, and collaborate with product, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of the solution to Canadian Industry payment rails/schemes, including the new Real Time Rail (RTR), SWIFT and ACSS.

This delivery-focused role requires a strong technical background, proficiency in Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid methodologies, experience with working to tight, regulatory deadlines, and a knowledge of payments within the Financial Services Industry.
The project is part of a broader program of work. The Sr. PM will work as a resource within a collaborative program team to drive successful execution of the project in a forward looking, small-bank environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of progressive technical project management experience, with at least 5+ years as a Senior Project Manager working on large scale, enterprise initiatives in the banking or financial services industry.
• Experience in implementing payments related projects (specifically payments engine/orchestration solutions)
• Experience working with vendors and third-party providers on technical implementation projects.
• Experience overseeing the work of internal cross functional teams on technical implementation projects.
• Collaboration with Product and business stakeholders on technical implementation projects.
• Experience working in matrix environments.
Technical Skills:
• Experience in system configuration, implementation, and integration.
• Familiarity with payment processing systems and related banking technologies.
• Ability to engage with technical developers and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Methodologies:
• Proficient in Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid project management methodologies.
• Ability to operate in a hybrid / multi-framework environment.
Regulatory Knowledge:
• Understanding of regulations pertaining to Canadian payment processing and experience aligning systems with Payments Canada, Interac and SWIFT requirements.
Soft Skills:
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to manage technical teams and work effectively with product and other stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a delivery-focused mindset.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

•Knowledge of Fiserv’s EPP solution is a bonus.
•Strong background in regulatory projects, particularly in relation to Canadian payment rail components (e.g. Interac, RTR, SWIFT, ACSS, ISO 20022); experience working with Payments Canada, Interac, SWIFT is a bonus.
