Zelig is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead our engineering organization and help
scale our AI-powered virtual try-on and styling platform from a high-performing product
into an enterprise-ready offering for top retail partners. You’ll partner closely with
Product, Design, AI/ML, and Commercial teams to set technical strategy, build a highvelocity execution engine, and grow a team that ships high-quality experiences
consistently.

Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading
managers and teams in high-growth environments as Sr. Director, VP or
equivalent based on company size (startup or product-led organization).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+,
React)
• Strong knowledge of back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, Ruby,
Java, etc.
• Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), related ORM libraries, and data
pipelines
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Strong system design and architectural judgment across modern web stacks,
APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience integrating with external partner systems and APIs (ecommerce
platforms, CMS/PIM, analytics, identity, payments, etc.) and supporting
enterprise customers.
• Strong operational discipline: observability, incident response, quality practices,
and security-minded engineering.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills—able to align stakeholders, make
clear trade-offs, and create focus in ambiguous environments.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in retail, fashion, ecommerce, marketplaces, or consumer-facing
product companies (B2B2C a plus).
• Experience scaling engineering organizations (hiring, structure, leveling,
compensation bands, performance management) from early-stage to growthstage.
• Deep experience with modern frontend frameworks and performance
optimization for highly interactive UIs.
• Experience building cost-aware, scalable cloud platforms (including vendor/
tooling evaluation and capacity planning)
