Job Description

One of Insight Global's aerospace customers is hiring a Product Quality Engineer to support the production floor for their avionics product lines. As a Product Quality Engineer, you will be the guardian of product integrity—ensuring what’s designed, built, and shipped consistently meets expectations and doesn’t come back as a problem later. Ideal candidate is adaptable, high-energy, and solutions-oriented; thrives in a hands-on environment and is comfortable being actively engaged on the production floor rather than in a traditional office setting.

Quality Planning & Product Realization
• Develop and maintain product and process quality plans, including control plans, inspection and test strategies, and CTQ identification
• Ensure configuration control across hardware, firmware, software and documentation
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and change readiness through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methods/milestones and risk reviews
• Partner with Manufacturing Eng. to define quality requirements to embed in standard work
• Lean quality assessments on Eng. changes, mitigating risk and integration to production
Incoming & Supplier Quality Assurance
• Develop, execute and govern risk based incoming inspection material acceptance plans
• Detect and problem solve supplier quality issues, including RCCA, SCARs, containment, and effectiveness verification
• Partner with Procurement and Engineering to improve supplier product and process maturity, with a focus on defect prevention and process capability
In Process Quality & Quality at the Source
• Establish and maintain in process quality controls at critical manufacturing steps through robust yield metrics, variance analysis and problem-solving methods. Monitor and improve RTY, defect trends, and process capability, driving prevention actions
• Define and enforce stop the line (andon) criteria for quality abnormalities
• Conduct layered process audits and verification of standard work and key process parameters
Final Acceptance, Test & Product Release
• Manage final inspection and acceptance, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and configuration requirements while resolving resulting defects
• Ensure test compliance, including calibration status, procedure adherence, and data integrity
• Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) and first piece validation activities
• Ensure release documentation is complete, accurate, and audit ready
Nonconformance, MRB & Containment
• Own the life cycle of nonconformances, including initiation, triage, investigation, tracking and closure with defined aging expectations
• Lead MRB daily reviews, ensuring technically sound and compliant dispositions, return to vendor and defect resolution on recurring failures with product and/or process
• Lead containment and escape management, including product holds and stop-ships, and line/stock quarantines
• Collaborate with Eng. on rework and repair instructions, ensuring verification of effectiveness
Corrective Action & Problem Solving
• Lead and support cross functional root cause problem solving (A3, 8D, 5 Why)
• Ensure corrective actions prevent recurrence, not just close paperwork
• Verify effectiveness through KPI, audits, and trend monitoring
• Deploy lessons learned across product families and value streams
Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
• Lead and support kaizen events and model line deployments
• Apply value stream thinking to reduce lead time, WIP, and variation through relentless focus on defect resolution in products and processes
• Drive process and documentation simplification
