Job Description

• Lead the development and review of engineering designs, calculations, and specifications for airport facilities and systems.
• Oversee preparation of technical drawings and reports in compliance with local, state, and federal codes, standards, and regulations.
• Perform technical reviews of engineering design drawings and calculations.
• Provide design oversight through construction including submittal approval, shop drawing review, and inspections to verify design implementation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and design staff.
• Coordinate with applicable regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction; ensure compliance with permitting requirements as necessary.
• Maintain up to date Master Design Guidelines and Technical Specifications.
• Oversee asset management by using inspection programs and condition assessments to update the Capital Improvement Program.


• Manage design schedules, budgets, and quality control processes for multiple projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integrated solutions.
• Serve as primary point of contact for project sponsors during design phases, addressing technical and project-related inquiries.
• Lead the design efforts in project development, cost estimation, and resource planning.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and project delivery.
• Conduct tours, give briefings and presentations related to engineering/architecture projects.
• Ensure a robust quality assurance and quality control design review plan is followed.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering discipline from an accredited institution; preference towards a Master’s degree.

8+ years of engineering design experience, including significant project management responsibilities; airport project experience strongly preferred.
