Job Description
As the Machining Group Leader, you will oversee a team of approximately 20–30 employees within a major automotive OEM's machining environment. This role blends leadership and operational oversight, requiring a business-first mindset with working knowledge of machining processes. You will be responsible for driving production, safety, and workforce accountability while supporting plant performance goals.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of 20–30 UAW employees within a machining environment
• Oversee daily shift operations including timekeeping, attendance, and workforce management
• Ensure machining operations run efficiently and meet production targets
• Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with plant standards
• Track, analyze, and report production metrics weekly
• Manage absenteeism and enforce accountability among team members
• Ensure employees are paid accurately and time records are correct
• Support problem-solving efforts on the floor related to production challenges
• Make decisions in ambiguous situations to maintain production flow
• Maintain strong leadership presence and drive team performance
Compensation:
$30/hr to $40/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• 1–2+ years of experience leading teams of 20-30 employees in a manufacturing/machining environment
• Experience leading or working with UAW or union-represented employees
• Basic machining knowledge (CNC, machining processes, shop environment)
• Strong managerial courage – ability to manage and hold tradespeople accountable
• Experience managing attendance, timekeeping, and workforce performance
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Automotive OEM experience
• Exposure to CNC operations or machine shop floor
• Experience with production metrics and reporting
