Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to support a large-scale initiative focused on modernizing and scaling personalized retail experiences across our client's digital and in-store platforms. This individual will provide hands-on technical leadership across backend services, store systems, event-driven integrations, data pipelines, and cloud-native platforms that support critical retail operations and high-volume transaction workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions; leading solution design discussions; guiding developers through implementation; reviewing code and architecture; supporting Kafka integrations, Cassandra data models, PySpark/ETL pipelines, and Kubernetes deployments; and overseeing testing efforts, production readiness, and post-release stabilization. This person will partner closely with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and business stakeholders to manage technical risks, resolve blockers, create technical documentation, and ensure the successful delivery of production-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, experience leading teams in complex enterprise environments, and the ability to remain hands-on while driving projects through design, development, testing, release readiness, and production support.

Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Technical Lead, Engineering Lead, or hands-on leadership role
- Strong hands-on development experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems
- Experience designing and supporting Kafka-based systems and event-driven architectures
- Experience with Cassandra or comparable NoSQL databases
- Experience with PySpark, Spark SQL, ETL pipelines, batch processing, data transformation, and data validation
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, logging, and production readiness
- Ability to lead engineers, review technical designs, manage execution, resolve blockers, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Retail technology experience across checkout, payments, carts, order flows, store systems, or high-volume commerce platforms
- Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Azure, AWS, or cloud-based data integration patterns
- Experience with technical governance, production readiness reviews, architecture decision records (ADRs), DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Relevant certifications in Java, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, Kafka, data engineering, Agile delivery, or engineering leadership
