Position Overview
We are seeking a Traveling Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Technician to support the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems at client sites across multiple locations. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in voice/data cabling, low voltage systems, and telecom infrastructure who is comfortable traveling extensively and working in commercial, industrial, or new construction environments.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Cat5/Cat6, fiber optic cabling, cable routing, terminations, rack and stack, device installation, and reading blueprints. Candidates should be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in the field with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, route, terminate, and test low voltage cabling systems, including Cat5, Cat6, coax, and fiber optic cabling
• Perform installation of structured cabling systems for voice, data, telecommunications, and network infrastructure
• Pull cable through conduits, ceilings, walls, and raised flooring in commercial and industrial environments
• Terminate cables on patch panels, jacks, blocks, and network devices
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting using cable testers, toners, and other low voltage testing equipment
• Install and support equipment such as racks, cabinets, patch panels, access points, cameras, and other low voltage devices
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, schematics, and scope of work documents
• Label, dress, and organize cable runs according to project and customer standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times
• Travel to job sites as needed and work flexible hours based on project demands
• Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and team members regarding progress and field conditions
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods
• Ability to work in construction environments, ceilings, MDF/IDF rooms, and other field conditions
Ability to travel and stay overnight as required by project needs

Required Skills & Experience
• Experience in structured cabling, low voltage installation, telecom wiring, or network cabling
• Experience pulling, terminating, and testing copper and/or fiber cabling
• Familiarity with voice/data systems, telecommunications wiring, and network infrastructure installations
• Ability to read blueprints, cable schedules, and work orders
• Experience working in commercial construction, renovation, or live-site environments
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly for project work
Strong understanding of job site safety practices
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with fiber optic termination, splicing, or testing
• Knowledge of BICSI standards, TIA/EIA cabling standards, or telecom best practices
• Experience with installation of access control, CCTV, DAS, WiFi, or AV systems
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Lift certification or experience operating scissor lifts / boom lifts
Prior experience in a traveling technician or multi-site deployment role
