Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an R&D Technician III to support a leading medical device client. This individual will work independently alongside engineers and scientists to assist in the development, testing, and analysis of new products, materials, manufacturing processes, and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on technical skills, experience building and testing prototypes, and the ability to contribute innovative solutions throughout the product development lifecycle.

This role is highly collaborative and will partner with cross-functional engineering teams to support research and development initiatives while maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Build, modify, and test prototypes, fixtures, and products based on engineering concepts and design specifications.
Create and maintain basic mechanical drawings and CAD documentation for prototypes and test fixtures.
Support engineers with creative problem-solving and design improvement recommendations.
Coordinate prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing activities according to project requirements.
Document test results, observations, and project progress for engineering teams.
Assist in establishing product specifications, testing protocols, and quality standards.
Work with internal departments and external vendors to source materials, components, and services.
Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to team members when needed.
Communicate project updates and technical findings to stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with quality system requirements, procedures, and documentation standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have Qualifications
Associate's Degree (AA) in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
3+ years of experience in an R&D, laboratory, manufacturing, or engineering technician environment.
Experience building, assembling, and testing prototypes or mechanical products.
Basic CAD experience and ability to interpret technical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Medical device industry experience.
Machinist, fabrication, or machine shop experience.
Experience supporting product development or new product introduction (NPI) projects.
Familiarity with quality systems and regulated environments.
Experience working with external suppliers and vendors.
