Job Description
Foundation is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering Lead to lead a team of 10-15 engineers responsible for designing, developing, and scaling next-generation humanoid robotic systems.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate is not only an experienced engineering manager but also an active contributor who enjoys solving challenging technical problems alongside their team. You will lead the development of critical robotic systems while establishing the engineering processes, design standards, and technical direction required to scale humanoid robotics into production.
Candidates should have direct experience developing complex electromechanical systems and ideally have contributed to walking humanoid robots or advanced robotics platforms. Experience with organizations such as Tesla Optimus, Boston Dynamics, Dexterity, Figure AI, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, Sanctuary AI, or similar cutting-edge robotics companies is highly desirable.

Required Skills & Experience
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of 10-15 mechanical engineers.
Establish technical direction and engineering standards for humanoid robot development.
Drive system architecture decisions for robotic structures, mechanisms, actuators, and integrated assemblies.
Participate directly in design reviews, problem-solving, prototyping, testing, and product development activities.
Foster a culture of accountability, execution, and engineering excellence.
Humanoid Robot Development
Lead the design and development of walking humanoid robotic systems.
Oversee mechanical architecture, packaging, actuation integration, and structural design.
Drive performance improvements related to mobility, reliability, dexterity, manufacturability, and durability.
Collaborate closely with electrical, controls, software, AI, and manufacturing teams to deliver fully integrated robotics platforms.
Product Development & Execution
Own projects from concept through prototyping, validation, and production.
Drive engineering decisions balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and schedule.
Develop and execute aggressive product development timelines.
Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
