Job Description

The Fiber Design Review Engineer serves as the technical authority for reviewing, validating, and approving fiber network designs. This position does not create High-Level Designs (HLDs) or Low-Level Designs (LLDs). Instead, the engineer ensures all designs produced by internal and external teams meet engineering standards, constructability requirements, and quality expectations before construction begins.

Day-to-Day
• Review, validate, and approve High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) created by internal and external engineering teams.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure designs meet company standards, engineering requirements, and construction readiness.
• Redline design packages, identify deficiencies, and provide technical feedback to designers and engineering vendors.
• Verify fiber routing, splice plans, fiber counts, network architecture, and constructability.
• Serve as the fiber engineering SME for design reviews, approvals, escalations, and technical discussions.
• Partner with construction, permitting, project management, and engineering teams to resolve design issues and maintain project timelines.
Track recurring quality issues and recommend improvements to design standards and review processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in OSP Fiber Engineering, Fiber Design, or Fiber Network Planning.
• Previous hands-on experience creating High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
• Strong knowledge of OSP fiber network architecture, construction practices, and engineering standards.
• Experience reviewing, redlining, validating, and approving fiber designs for constructability, accuracy, and compliance.
• Experience performing QA/QC reviews and identifying design deficiencies.
Ability to provide technical guidance and feedback to engineering vendors, designers, and project stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting large-scale FTTH, FTTX, or broadband deployment programs.
• Experience overseeing third-party engineering firms or design vendors.
• Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, IQGeo, VETRO, OSPInsight, or similar fiber engineering tools.
Knowledge of permitting, ROW, and utility coordination.
