Job Description
Insight Global is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join a client in the construction industry. This individual will serve as the Controller's right-hand partner and play a key role in driving accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while ensuring deadlines are consistently met. On a daily basis, they will prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, WIP schedules, overbilling and underbilling analyses, and other construction-related accounting activities while researching and resolving outstanding balance sheet items. The Assistant Controller will collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, Operations, Project Management, and leadership teams to identify financial risks, improve processes, monitor AR aging and collection trends, and ensure accurate reporting across multiple entities. They will support annual audits, insurance audits, budgeting processes, internal controls, ERP and reporting enhancements, and acquisition-related accounting initiatives while proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions. Although the position will initially operate as a senior individual contributor, the ideal candidate will leverage previous leadership experience to influence and guide accounting staff, establish accountability across departments, and ultimately assume oversight of AP, Billing, and Collections functions as the organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who takes ownership, communicates proactively, anticipates issues before they arise, and serves as a trusted strategic partner to leadership.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong construction accounting experience
• Previous experience managing, supervising, or leading accounting staff
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience with WIP schedules, overbillings, underbillings, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Experience supporting annual financial statement audits and external audits
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with construction accounting/ERP systems
• Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and drive accountability across teams
• Strong leadership potential with the ability to influence without direct authority
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with a general contractor, specialty contractor, engineering firm, or construction-related organization
• Experience overseeing or partnering closely with AP, Billing, and Collections teams
• Experience with multiple entities or sister-company accounting
• Experience supporting process improvements, system implementations, automation, or reporting enhancements
• Exposure to acquisition accounting, due diligence, or post-acquisition integration
• Experience in a rapidly growing or changing organization
• CPA designation
