Planning Engineer III

Insight Global is seeking a Planning Engineer III (Senior Transport Planning Engineer) to support a large telecommunications environment focused on transport network growth, capacity planning, and modernization initiatives. This individual will be responsible for developing strategic network evolution plans, forecasting capacity needs, and creating implementation-ready engineering packages that enable successful deployment of transport network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in transport planning, optical networking technologies, network capacity forecasting, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration. This role will also provide technical leadership to engineering teams while supporting project budgeting, capital planning, and long-term network transformation efforts.

This position will pay $50-55/hr.

5+ years of experience in transport planning, network engineering, or telecommunications infrastructure planning.
Strong understanding of optical transport technologies and backbone network architectures.
Experience with SONET, DWDM, and transport network design principles.
Proven experience performing capacity planning, forecasting, and network growth analysis.
Knowledge of central office infrastructure, including power systems, alarms, and common equipment.
Understanding of Outside Plant (OSP) engineering and transport network deployment considerations.
Experience developing engineering packages, network plans, and implementation documentation.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and leading technical initiatives.

Experience supporting large enterprise, carrier, service provider, or telecommunications environments.
Experience with network inventory, circuit management, and engineering management platforms such as:
TIRKS
MetaSolv
Network inventory and asset management systems
Engineering planning and workflow tools
Budget management and project planning experience.
Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical workstreams.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
