Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join a leading transportation infrastructure organization supporting one of the largest transit expansion programs in Canada. This individual will become an integral member of a lean, high-performing finance team responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business insights across large-scale capital projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and finance, combined with the ability to analyze complex financial data and translate findings into meaningful business recommendations for project managers, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders. This is a highly collaborative role requiring someone who is comfortable digging into data, validating information from multiple sources, and proactively working with cross-functional teams to identify trends, explain variances, and improve financial visibility across the organization.
This individual will play a key role in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, forecasts, budgets, dashboards, and financial models while helping business leaders understand how project activities impact financial performance.
Responsibilities
-Prepare, analyze, and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
-Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
-Analyze project costs, revenue, profitability, and financial performance to support operational decision-making.
-Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies by validating information across multiple financial and operational data sources.
-Collaborate directly with project managers and department leaders to understand business activities and explain financial impacts.
-Build financial models and reporting tools that provide clear visibility into project and organizational performance.
-Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
-Create and enhance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting metrics to support business performance monitoring.
-Present financial insights and recommendations to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
-Identify process improvement opportunities related to reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial controls.
-Support internal and external audit activities as required.
-Participate in special projects and strategic finance initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
-Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, transportation, mining, energy, oil & gas, renewable energy, or project-based environments.
-5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
-Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and IFRS.
-Advanced Excel skills with experience developing financial models and reporting tools.
-Experience performing variance analysis and translating financial results into business insights.
-Ability to analyze large data sets and accurately interpret financial and operational information.
-Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance audiences.
-Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with operational stakeholders.
-Self-starter who can independently investigate issues, challenge data, and uncover the root cause behind financial variances.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
-Experience creating financial dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
