Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Controls QC Specialist to support the final construction, turnover, and closeout phases of a large industrial manufacturing facility project. This individual will be responsible for conducting detailed system walkdowns, inspecting controls installations, documenting deficiencies, generating punch list items, and maintaining accurate progress markups on construction and controls documentation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial control systems, HVAC controls, low-voltage installations, and commissioning support activities in Smyrna, TN.
- Perform field walkdowns of completed and partially completed systems to verify installation quality, functionality, and readiness for turnover.
- Review and interpret control drawings, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, loop drawings, wiring schematics, and construction documents.
- Inspect and verify proper installation of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), instrumentation, sensors, actuators, motor controls, and associated control devices.
- Generate, track, and manage punch list items while coordinating corrective actions with contractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Mark up drawings and turnover documents to accurately reflect construction status, field changes, deficiencies, and completion progress.
- Support system turnover activities by validating construction completion against approved engineering and design packages.
- Verify low-voltage and controls cabling installations, terminations, labeling, and testing documentation.
Inspect HVAC control systems, chilled water systems, and associated Building Automation System (BAS) components.
- Review and validate Collins controls systems, fire alarm control panels (FACP), networked controls infrastructure, and field device integration.
- Coordinate with commissioning and startup teams to ensure systems meet operational and quality requirements.
- Assist with collection, review, and organization of closeout documentation including as-built drawings, test reports, inspection records, and turnover packages.
- Maintain detailed field reports and communicate project status, deficiencies, risks, and completion updates to project leadership.

Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in controls, instrumentation, commissioning, QA/QC, or industrial construction.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, construction drawings, and control schematics.
- Familiarity with VFDs, HVAC controls, chilled water systems, FACP, and low-voltage wiring.
- Experience performing field inspections, system walkdowns, and punch list management.
