Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician for a leading building systems and life safety solutions client. This individual will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and programming fire alarm systems at customer facilities throughout the Dublin and greater Columbus, Ohio market. The technician will work closely with dispatchers and customers to diagnose issues, perform repairs, complete service documentation, and ensure all life safety systems operate reliably and efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fire alarm experience, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in the field. Experience with Simplex fire alarm systems, security systems, access control, CCTV, and IP networking is highly preferred. Day to Day:
- Receive and respond to service calls for fire and life safety systems
- Work directly with dispatchers to coordinate daily service assignments
- Contact customers to schedule visits and provide service updates
- Diagnose, repair, troubleshoot, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems
- Program and reprogram fire alarm, security, and access control panels
- Replace devices and resolve low-voltage circuit issues
- Travel throughout the greater Columbus service territory to customer sites
- Review blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation
- Complete service acknowledgments, reports, and customer-facing documentation
- Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service work
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed
- Provide recommendations to improve facility operations and system performance
- Assist with quotes related to repairs, upgrades, and recommended solutions
- Complete detailed service debriefs and communicate findings back to customers and internal teams
- Support backlog reduction efforts while maintaining customer response goals of 2–5 days

Required Skills & Experience

- Fire alarm service, troubleshooting, and repair experience
- Experience programming and reprogramming fire alarm control panels
- Active Fire License
- 4–5+ years of relevant fire alarm/service technician experience preferred
Knowledge of low-voltage systems and circuitry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals
- Experience independently performing service calls at customer locations
- Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to complete work orders and documentation using laptops, tablets, and smartphones
- Valid driver's license with fewer than 6 points and reliable personal vehicle
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and provide thorough customer debriefs
- Experience servicing fire alarm panels, specifically Simplex systems preferred

- Previous mentoring or training experience
- Experience identifying and developing upsell/service opportunities
- Experience with EST, Notifier, Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, and Bosch systems
